Sneaker-head” Van Basit, recently had the opportunity to sit down with Camidoh, a renowned songwriter, record producer, and singer, to discuss his love for fashion and sneakers.


Camidoh, known for his contributions to the music industry, shared insights into his fashion sense, his favorite sneakers, and his experiences with both Ghanaian and international fashion cultures.

One particular shoe that holds a special place in Camidoh’s heart is the Nike Air Force One, often referred to as AF1s. He considers them his go-to shoes when he wants to maintain a stylish appearance without going overboard. Camidoh appreciates the Air Force Ones’ simplicity, believing they can be worn with any outfit, making them universal sneakers in his eyes.

When asked about his fashion influences, Camidoh explained that he dresses based on what he personally likes to see. He doesn’t focus on specific brands but rather wears clothes that make him look and feel good. He believes that fashion is more about how the clothes make you feel when you wear them, rather than adhering to particular trends or labels.                                                

Reflecting on fashion trends of the past, Camidoh mentioned the popularity of Converse shoes, specifically the Superstars and All-Stars. He shared his experience of wearing All-Stars during his school days, highlighting their affordability and convenience.

Camidoh fondly recalled his first sneaker purchase with his own money, a pair of Converse All-Stars. He bought them in high school even though they were not the original ones. Despite that, he still valued them showcasing his appreciation for sneakers and fashion.

Camidoh talks about his experiences with fashion and sneakers during his travels, specifically comparing the sneaker culture in Ghana and the UK. He observed that in the UK, people tend to buy from reputable stores like Stadium Goods, known for selling authentic sneakers. In contrast, he highlighted the acceptance of fake sneakers in Ghana and its impact on the local fashion culture. Camidoh expressed his desire to see more Ghanaian fashion brands go international and compete with well-known brands.                                 

Camidoh discussed the creation process of his songs and the inspiration behind them. Specifically, he mentioned the remix of his song “Sugarcane,” which gained international recognition. Camidoh elaborated on how the remix came together with artists like King Promise and Taco, highlighting the collaborative effort that went into its production.                              

Grateful for his fans’ support, Camidoh expressed his appreciation for their energy and excitement during his performances. Their continous support makes him feel valued and blessed, further fueling his passion for music and fashion.

Camidoh discussed the meaning behind his recent song “Free Me” and how it reflects his personal experiences with frustration, depression, and the desire to break free from negative emotions and situations. He expressed the emotional impact of creating such a song and the overwhelming support he has received from his fans.

Camidoh’s passion for fashion and music shone throughout the conversation, showcasing his genuine appreciation for both industries. With his unique style and dedication to his craft, Camidoh continues to make his mark not only in the music industry but also in the world of fashion.
